An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join our team at Sizewell, Suffolk.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing high–value, fast–turnover, or complex delivery programmes. The role involves full responsibility for the planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of projects, ensuring they are completed within timeframes and budgets.
To be considered, you will have a strong Civil Engineering background with experience in managing large–scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Programme Management:
o Understand and manage the project programme, ensuring good short–term planning and clear communication with the team.
o Administer and approve contract programmes (e.g., Cl31, Cl32, CE programmes & Cl14).
o Ensure the programme is adequately resourced with staff, operatives, and supply chain.
* Contract Management:
o Ensure project contract documents are understood and administered correctly.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant safe systems of work.
o Manage third–party liaison and interface management actively.
* Quality and Safety Management:
o Support and endorse the Behavioural Safety programme and hazard observation reporting.
o Ensure the project team complies with the Quality Management Plan, including ITPs, Check Sheets/WIS, and NCRs.
* Documentation and Reporting:
o Set up document control procedures and ensure adherence to electronic platforms.
o Develop and manage project controls for internal and external reporting.
o Prepare Monthly Project Progress Reports and lead presentations to customers. Present Monthly Project Reviews and CVRs to the Senior Management Team.
* Design Management:
o Manage designers and consultants, ensuring the timely delivery of design programmes and adherence to design management procedures.
o Input into designer/consultant contracts and deliverables.
* Cost and Value Management:
o Track and recover change and additional value where required.
o Update resource planning and contingencies every month.
* Leadership and Team Management:
o Demonstrate leadership behaviours that inspire a positive environment for the project team.
o Support the work–winning team and bid managers with opportunities and pipeline development.
o Provide professional credibility and integrity in customer–facing activities.
* Additional Duties:
o Undertake other duties commensurate with the position.
o Comply with company policies and procedures.
Experience and Knowledge:
Extensive construction knowledge, including techniques and productivities.
A successful track record in managing operational delivery within construction.
Experience in managing large–scale and multi–disciplinary teams.
Experience with Temporary Works.
Ability to train, mentor, and coach multi–disciplined teams.
Experience in presenting detailed reports to the Senior Management Team.
Qualifications:
Relevant formal qualification (HNC, HND, Degree in Civil Engineering or similar).
CSCS card.
CITB 5–Day Safety Supervisor qualification.
Skills:
IT literate and proficient in using project management software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organisational, planning, and time–management skills.
Ability to work on own initiative and deal effectively with clients and internal staff.
Proactive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
