Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Stroke clinical nurse specialist to join our stroke service here at Worcester Royal Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated trained nurse to join our stroke team to support the provision of specialist treatment and care for patients immediately following a stroke. Please note this post requires 7 day working including a variety of long days and night shifts. This post is currently for 12 months however there is potentially a permenent post available after this period. This post is open to candidates who would like to be considered for a secondment. Main duties of the job To contribute to the organisation of stroke multidisciplinary, patient centred care To facilitate flow of patients both from A&E and through the Stroke unit in accordance with NICE guidelines To provide expert relevant clinical advice and support to patients and their carers To support the development and implementation of best practice within the speciality of stroke medicine To provide a specialist nursing role in the assessment and management of patients who have suffered a stroke (in and out patients) To provide an outreach service to other patients in the Hospital who have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of stroke ensuring that their management is timely and appropriate To provide key support and an educational resource for any qualified and unqualified nursing staff, allied health professionals, junior doctors and students working within the speciality To develop nurse led Outpatient services and manage a caseload To play a key role in ensuring that national and local targets for stroke are met.
