About the role
The role of Prudential Regulatory Liaison and Horizon Scanning Specialist will assist in managing the Society’s relationship with regulatory bodies like the PRA and Bank of England. Tasks include preparing briefings for Senior Management, the Executive, and the Board ahead of regulatory interactions, such as the annual Periodic Summary Meeting (PSM) and regular updates with the supervisory team. You’ll also help our technical specialists prepare for key regulatory reviews like L-SREP and C-SREP. As a result, there is an expectation that you will have some understanding of the prudential regulatory regime.
You’ll support the wider Society in meeting the expectations and requirements of regulatory bodies and in proactively identifying and managing regulatory risks. Additionally, you'll lead efforts in monitoring UK regulatory developments, communicating these to relevant business areas. You'll also assist in responding to Consultation Papers on regulatory changes and tracking compliance with Policy and Supervisory Statements.
The role sits within the Financial and Model (FaM) Risk Team, which is part of the Society’s 2nd line of defence that reports into the Chief Risk Officer. FaM are a trusted advisor and critical friend to 1st line teams. Our key purpose is to enable the business to make effective risk-based decisions, considering the prudential regulatory framework and underpinned by robust controls and governance. The individual will work closely with stakeholders around the business, including within Risk, Finance and Treasury, and there will be exposure to Senior Management and the Executive.

About you
We’re looking for an individual who has proven experience in the financial services industry, with substantial exposure to regulatory bodies such as the PRA and Bank of England. The ability to engage and communicate effectively with senior management, particularly in high-stakes regulatory contexts and visits.
Able to demonstrate commercial awareness with the ability to balance regulatory compliance and business priorities. Plus an expertise in horizon scanning, with a track record of identifying regulatory impacts, communicating insights, and tracking compliance progress.
