Bilfinger UK are looking for candidates to join the business as an apprentice in Thermal Insulation Engineering for our 2025 Apprenticeship intake.
Role Overview:
An Apprentice Thermal Insulation Engineer assists in installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation and cladding in various industrial environments. They will participate in formal and on-the-job training to gain an understanding of thermal insulation systems, materials, and installation techniques. The apprentice will work with experienced engineers to support and execute insulation installation projects that improve energy efficiency, reduce heat loss, and ensure safe temperature regulation.
Training & Learning:
* Installation Support: Assist in the installation of thermal insulation and cladding on pipes, tanks, boilers, and ductwork.
* Maintenance & Repair: Assist in the maintenance and repair of insulation systems.
* Material Handling: Assist in the preparation, transportation, and storage of insulation materials.
* Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and ensure safe working practices on-site.
* Technical Assistance: Help tradesmen with technical aspects of insulation.
* Documentation & Reporting: Assist in recording and reporting work progress and materials used.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Education: GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, and Science, or relevant trade-related qualifications.
Skills:
* Basic understanding of construction and engineering principles.
* Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
* Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environments.
* Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
* Desirable: Some prior experience in a practical or hands-on role is beneficial but not required.

* Enthusiasm for Learning: Willing to learn and develop skills in thermal insulation and engineering.
* Team Player: Ability to work as part of a team.
* Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic.

* The apprentice will often work at industrial plants.
* The job may require working at heights or in confined spaces.
Progression & Development:
* Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there are opportunities to move into a permanent position as a fully qualified Thermal Insulation Engineer.
