Job Vacancy Health & Safety Officer Full time [37.5hrs/wk]/ Permanent / Ref: HSO/11/24 Hours of work: 9.00am to 5.00pm / Monday to Friday Salary: Competitive We are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Officer to join our team. This position can be based from either Duncrue (Belfast) depot or Portadown depot, however due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be willing to travel to other sites throughout the group, and third-party sites, as and when required. Purpose of the Job The Health & Safety Officer will provide support to the Group Health & Safety Manager, and wider EHS team, to assist with developing and implementing effective H&S plans and procedures across the Company, keeping it fully compliant with legislative requirements. They will promote a zero-harm culture through a proactive approach to necessary H&S obligations to ensure adherence to statutory and operational obligations, whilst ensuring the highest possible level of safety for our employees. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Manage and ensure continuous compliance with ISO standards & for all internal business processes, policies, procedures, and systems included in the companys Integrated Management System (IMS). Ensure the business is legally compliant with all H&S legislation and are effectively managing all H&S risks and hazards. Conduct incident / accident investigations and complete root cause analysis to prevent any reoccurrence. Conduct regular and comprehensive site inspections ensuring policies and procedures are being correctly implemented. Carry out risk assessments to ensure all risks are identified and ensure suitable and effective control measures are in place. Support the improvement of comprehensive H&S programmes, policies, and guidelines for the company and ensure continuous compliance, in line with set KPIs. Plan, develop and deliver training across the company to ensure legal compliance. Promote a positive H&S culture by providing support and guidance to all levels of the Company, via committee meetings, staff briefings etc. Support company H&S initiatives and demonstrate company values. Participate in personal development activities and role specific training/qualifications, as required. Be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to your role and carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Company Essential criteria To be considered for this role, you must display the following: At least 2 years experience in a health and safety role, to include demonstratable practical experience in risk assessments, workplace safety inspections and incident management. NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, (or equivalent), or working towards Good knowledge of H&S legislation and approved codes of practice. Knowledge and experience of IMS standards, ISO 9001:2015, ISO and ISO. Strong communication, teamworking and organisational skills with the ability to work with various teams within the company. Excellent IT skills and experience in associated software packages.
