This senior post works as part of the Integrated Care Board safeguarding team ensuring that ICB the statutorysafeguarding responsibility and function is appropriately and effectively discharged across the ICB and the widerIntegrated Care System.
The post provides strategic safeguarding leadership and expert safeguarding advice and consultancy to colleagues, senior managers and board members, ensuring that safeguarding children's standards andthe statutory responsibilities of the ICB are well met and children in Kent and Medway are appropriately protected andsafeguarded from significant risk and harm., The Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children will be responsible for ensuring that the ICB itself compliant/ dischargessafeguarding duties with all the relevant safeguarding statutory duties, Children Act (2004), the Children and Social CareAct (2017), including the application of the Mental Capacity Act (2005).The Designated Nurse for safeguarding children is the role that encompasses working across the local health system (Kentand Medway ICB) to support other professionals in their agencies on all aspects of safeguarding children. It is a vitalsource of advice and support to health commissioners in the ICB, the local authority children's services and NHS England,other health professionals in provider organisations, Quality Surveillance Groups, regulators, Safeguarding ChildrenPartnerships, Kent and District Community Safety Partnerships and Kent and Medway Health and Well-being Board.The designated children's safeguarding nurse will liaise with, and support, the adult safeguarding
designatenurse/professional who holds the lead for MCA within their portfolio and are responsible for providing support and adviceto clinicians in continuing health care (CHC) in individual cases and supervision to staff in areas where these issues may beparticularly prevalent and/or complex.
