Electronics Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Electronics Maintenance Technician will provide comprehensive technical support for automated pharmacy equipment systems at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) in Chelmsford, MA. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated systems such as packaging systems, conveyor systems, and drug dosing machines to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Location: Chelmsford, MA (Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy - CMOP)
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday; staggered shifts between 5:00 AM - 4:30 PM. May include evening or weekend shifts based on workload demands or emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
o Perform preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and programming of automated equipment systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
o Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions to restore full functionality.
o Evaluate system performance and recommend cost-effective solutions, including equipment replacement when necessary.
2. System Evaluation & Improvement:
o Assess system compatibility and make modifications to enhance reliability.
o Determine required test and calibration equipment for subsystems.
o Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures and safety protocols such as lock-out/tag-out (LOTO).
3. Technical Consultation:
o Provide technical advice on equipment selection, installation, modifications, and unusual maintenance challenges.
o Collaborate with supervisors and other technicians to develop innovative solutions for unique problems.
4. Documentation & Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and provide daily staffing reports.
o Submit incident reports for accidents or malfunctions within specified timeframes.
Qualifications
* Minimum of one year of specialized experience in electronics maintenance or a related field.
* Proficiency in testing, troubleshooting, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic systems.
* Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse teams.
* Strong knowledge of analog/digital electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, electromechanical devices, hydraulics, thermodynamics, optics, physics, and computer science.
* Ability to interpret schematics and specifications of custom systems.
* Skilled in using standard test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and calibration devices.
* Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally handle heavier objects.
* Familiarity with OSHA standards and Fire Protection Association codes (e.g., NFPA 70E).
