Job Purpose:
As Waking Night Staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, care, and well-being of the young people during the night. You will provide support and supervision to children and young people in the home, ensuring they feel secure and cared for throughout the night. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a calm and safe environment, conducting regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies that may arise during your shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Safety
1. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children and young people in the home throughout the night.
2. Conduct regular checks on each young person as required, ensuring they are safe, comfortable, and settled.
3. Respond promptly to any incidents, disruptions, or emergencies during the night, following the home’s safeguarding procedures.
4. Monitor the premises to ensure security is maintained at all times, reporting any concerns to the Registered Manager or on-call staff.
Support and Care
1. Provide emotional and practical support to young people who may wake during the night, helping them to settle back into bed if necessary.
2. Offer a listening ear and compassionate presence for any young person who needs support during the night.
Record-Keeping and Reporting
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all events, checks, and any incidents that occur during the night, ensuring thorough documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
2. Report any concerns, behavioural issues, or safeguarding matters to the Registered Manager or senior staff, ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
Household Duties
1. Assist in light domestic tasks as necessary (e.g., tidying communal areas, laundry), ensuring the home is kept clean and ready for daytime activities.
Safeguarding and Compliance
1. Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of the young people are at the forefront of all duties.
2. Be aware of and comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards including the Children’s Homes Regulations, Health and Safety requirements, and Ofsted guidelines.
Teamwork and Communication
1. Work collaboratively with the day staff team to ensure continuity of care and effective handovers.
2. Communicate any concerns or relevant information about the young people’s well-being or behaviour to the team in a timely and professional manner.
Training and Development
1. Attend regular training and development opportunities to maintain a high standard of care and support for young people.
2. Participate in supervision and team meetings as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.50 per hour
