Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to take on this essential role within the REACT team (Rapid Emergency Assessment and Care Team) based in the Emergency Department and associated wards at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. The Therapy Clinical Support Worker is a core member of the multi-professional REACT team delivering the rapid assessment and discharge facilitation for patients. The post-holder provides support to the Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist and Nursing staff who form this team. The post-holder will take responsibility for liaising with other community services, patients relatives to obtain vital information to assist in holistic assessments and discharge planning. The successful post-holder must be an excellent communicator and motivator, experience of working within a hospital setting is desirable. Proven organisational skills is crucial. An ability to work in close cooperation, liaison and with the broader healthcare workforce is essential in a fast paced setting. They will have proven ability as a team player. An ability to take responsibility, be flexible and have a sensitive and empathetic approach is needed. Participation in manual handling tasks is crucial and the post-holder must be able to undertake the physical and manual handling requirements of the post. Opportunities for training and development are available through training and appraisal. Main duties of the job To act as a technical resource to the Therapy department, in relation to the provision of mobility/discharge equipment. To document, evaluate and liaise with qualified Therapists of other REACT team members following interventions. To be responsible for the completion and potential delegation of non-clinical tasks within the REACT therapy team and wider REACT team. After suitable training, to assess and treat patients as appropriate with oversight from a Senior REACT Therapist or Nurse.
