Technical Service Engineer
Position Summary
Supports rapid commercialization of a portfolio of innovation and product improvement projects in the APS segments; giving technical advice to customers in respect of most effective use and processing of LyondellBasell’s products; provide input and gather necessary technical and market trend information to contribute to continuous value creation and identification of opportunities for innovation and grade range optimization. Contributes with technical support in complaint handling.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Provides high quality, effective technical support to assigned commercial accounts under own responsibility.
2. Resolves technical customer complaints in a timely manner.
3. Advises and supports in selecting and processing APS materials, for new project/materials in cooperation with NBD and as follow up of product application complaints.
4. Conducts regular visits at plants, tech departments, quality managers of customers to develop strong relationship at plant level and local technical departments, to learn customer needs, to identify business opportunities and to propose APS solutions if required attends trials to support the customer.
5. Works closely together with Sales, NBD and PAD.
6. Works with customers to ensure the effective introduction of new products through trial/testing support and promotion of product’s benefits. Translates laboratory and business support development projects into meaningful value propositions for customers.
7. Management Reporting
8. Acts as project owner for agreed customer specific projects.
9. Ensures that customers’ requirements are appropriately reflected in manufacturing specifications, while supporting efforts for grade portfolio cost and supply chain optimization by working with customers to promote manufacturing optimization.
10. Identifies the customers’ future product and application technology needs, translates these into measurable property characteristics and communicates these needs within the APS organization.
11. Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001) to ensure the quality of our products and services provided. The function has authority to stop an activity, including production where nonconformity arises.
12. Willingness to frequently travel within UK and possibly the EU
Skills and Experience
13. 2-3 years of experience in sales, technical service, project leader, injection molding process specialist or a comparable position with customer contact.
14. Experience in processing and application technologies in the Transportation sector,. E&E, Appliances, Building & Construction, Agriculture, Packaging. Processing of compounds (. PP-, PA-, Styrenic-Compounds or blends made out of it) and Masterbatches (additives, white, black, colors, flame retardants).
15. Knowledge of conversion of plastics, especially injection molding
16. Experience in complaint and conflict management
17. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Procedures and Product Risk Management.
18. Experience in application development and technical service.
Education
19. University or college degree in Science or Engineering with plastic focus, or comparable education together with practical experience in plastic processing
20. Basic IT capabilities (e-mail, SAP R3, BW, EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, SFDC)
21. Driving license
