Our vision for the future is a society in which everyone living with mental health needs is heard, valued, and has hope for their future.
The Northampton site hosts services that include: Neuropsychiatry (including Acquired Brain Injury, Progressive Neurological Conditions – Dementia and Huntington’s Disease, and Older Adults); Low Secure and Specialist Rehabilitation (including PICU); Learning Disability; Autism; Medium Secure Forensics; CAMHS; and Community Partnerships, as well as our Academic and Research and Innovation Centres, offering great opportunities to broaden and develop your skills in the future.
You and the role
We are currently looking to appoint a qualified or newly qualified Psychologist who has experience or an interest in working with complex and challenging patient groups and will be eligible for, or hold HCPC registration.
Vacancy 1: The ward Fairbairn is a 17-bed ward for Deaf patients, and one of a few in the UK that provides treatment in secure care. The ward is part of a wider Deaf Service that delivers care to females in a blended service and males and females in the community. All staff get the opportunity to learn British Sign Language, and interpreters are also used. You will work with two part-time consultant psychologists.
Vacancy 2: The ward Rose is a 16-bed forensic neuropsychiatry unit for men with neurological and mental health conditions who require neurobehavioral rehabilitation in a forensic environment. Diagnoses include Acquired or Traumatic Brain Injury, dementia, stroke, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease (HD), learning disabilities, psychosis, and personality disorder. We pride ourselves on managing the most complex cases and offer innovative therapeutic approaches.
Psychology is highly valued within the service and embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach. The post holder will be fully involved in the development, delivery, and evaluation of a range of assessments and formulation-led interventions. You will be joining a motivated and supportive team with a variety of therapeutic knowledge, using approaches including CBT, CFT, DBT, EMDR, LMV, and other trauma-focused care in both 1:1 and group formats.
There will be opportunities for joint professional work and involvement in clinical supervision, support, and training, and we actively support innovation and research. You can expect to receive good support, reflective practice, and supervision and will play a vital part in the promotion of this service. Participation in continued professional development is encouraged, and divisional and charity-wide CPD events are held weekly. Staff wellbeing is taken seriously, recognizing the importance for practitioners to care for themselves when caring for others.
In return
We offer an excellent benefits package including 38 days holiday, sickness policy on par with NHS, car lease scheme, free parking, cycle to work scheme, healthcare discounts, employee support programme, and opportunities for research, training, and CPD.
