Lead Nurse for Physical Healthcare and Infection Prevention & Control
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished experienced Senior Nurse to lead our Physical Healthcare and Infection Prevention and Control services working with our highly motivated, caring and knowledgeable teams within this portfolio. Accountable to the Deputy Chief Nurse, this post will ensure there are robust systems and processes in place across the Trust which support patient safety and deliver optimum outcomes for Physical Health in Mental Health Services aligned to National and Regulatory guidance. You must have the motivation and desire to work with a complex and often vulnerable group of patients to achieve the best possible outcomes, improve the quality of care and contribute to the overarching agenda of tackling avoidable illness, and reducing health inequalities. Main duties of the job
This post will work collaboratively with Trust Multidisciplinary teams to provide a high-quality service to patients through support, intervention and clinical expertise. The post holder will provide strategic vision and leadership in their specialist fields to ensure a high level of compliance with national and regulatory guidance for Physical Healthcare, Infection Prevention and Control in Mental Health Services. You will need to be a passionate and confident leader, with the communication skills to engage with patients, carers and staff across all levels of our organisation. You will lead and support at the clinical, operational and strategic level. This post holds Clinical Operational responsibility and day to day management for:
* Physical Healthcare Team
* Infection Prevention and Control Team
* Resuscitation Service
* Tobacco Dependency Service
* Immunisation team
* Designated administrative leads

Job responsibilities
This role will see you provide clinical expertise, strategic direction and guidance for achieving excellence in practice and in order to achieve this you will:
* Provide and ensure effective clinical leadership to implement, develop and maintain the highest possible standards of physical health care and infection prevention and control practice throughout Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
* Be passionate about supporting the delivery of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services.
* Hold a clinical qualification as described within the person specification and current registration with the appropriate body.
* Be comfortable and confident working in a leadership role.
* Have experience of working within a mental health setting.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RGN with current NMC registration
* Relevant post registration specialist physical health/IPC qualifications e.g. infection control management/wound care/diabetes modules
* Leadership and management qualifications (or willingness to work towards)
* Coaching qualification
* Teaching qualification
Knowledge/Experience
* Recognises the impact that physical and psychological health has upon each other and adapts ways of working to meet the needs of individual patients.
* Extensive experience working in the field of Infection Prevention and Control across a range of provisions including acute/mental health/community or Physical Health in Mental Health.
* Experience of developing complex reports.
* Experience of undertaking patient safety investigations and writing reports.
* Financial and budgetary management experience.
* High level of interpersonal skills, able to work autonomously and experience of managing a team/services.
* Experience of implementing service improvement projects using service improvement methodology.
* High level of personal and professional motivation and ability to influence, initiate and manage change.
* Ability to make critical judgments and decisions.
* Appropriate technical skills.
* Knowledge of the management of long-term illnesses.
