Job Description
The working pattern is Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-4:30pm from January 2025 at Abingdon Campus. Fixed term until the 30th of September 2025.
Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL) is a large, award-winning faculty of Abingdon and Witney College. We aim to maximise access to learning for adults in Oxfordshire, widening participation and transforming the health, social and economic wellbeing of individuals, families, and their communities. Our provision is diverse and includes an extensive range of leisure learning courses, community learning courses, family learning courses, and accredited courses which lead to recognised qualifications.
We are currently looking for a Pottery/Ceramics tutor to deliver three hourly sessions, 13:30 - 16:30, on Tuesdays at our Abingdon campus. The tutor will be able to deliver a pottery course to a group of mixed ability learners, covering a range of ceramic processes. Hourly Paid Lecturers are responsible for planning courses, delivering inspiring lessons, keeping records of their learner's progress, and participating in development activities to enhance their own teaching, learning, and assessment skills.
The College offers a comprehensive staff development programme to support tutors in developing their practice. You do not have to be a qualified teacher but must be knowledgeable and passionate about your subject area. Opportunities also exist to gain a recognised teaching qualification.
If you would like to discuss any of these opportunities, please contact Brid Muldoon.
Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET) within your first year of joining the college.
Benefits
In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme, and much more.
Closing date:
20th January 2025 (Midnight)
* Abingdon and Witney College reserve the right to close all applications before the posted closing date.
No candidate will meet every single desired qualification/criteria. If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!
AWC values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory clearances including enhanced DBS checks.
Abingdon and Witney College are committed to safer recruitment practices. In addition to our pre-employment checks, we will conduct an online search. This includes checking Google main results feed as well as the ‘News’ and ‘Images’ tab. We will be checking for any publicly available information that suggests the applicant may not be suitable to work with children or young/vulnerable people or content that could potentially damage Abingdon and Witney College’s reputation.
