Job Title: Careers Advisor
Location: Sheffiled
Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 DOE, per annum
Contract: Permenant position - full time hours
Job Duties:
Protocol are working closley with a further education college based in Sheffiled in there search for an experienced Careers advisor to ensure learners receive independent careers advice from which to inform future decisions. This postholder will be anintegral addition to the information, advice and guidance team and will be required to support relevant activities to ensure learners receive high quality advice and support.
Main responsibilities:
• Manage the provision of careers and labour market information
• Manage the careers section of the college’s website.
• Liaise with tutors to identify learners needing guidance.
• Plan a systematic and structured careers offer to ensure that no learner is left behind.
• Provide impartial information, advice and guidance to individuals and to groups of learners in relation to all aspects of their progression planning.
• Assist learners with action planning following their careers interview.
• Work with the Curriculum Managers, Wayfinder colleagues, Tutors & Well-being and Transition Officer to develop careers related activities across the college.
• Interview learners either one to one or in small groups, recording interviews and advice given on learner action plan.
• Maintain an online Careers Library and careers resources.
• Contribute to the compilation of the college’s intended destinations data.
• Assist in the planning and organising of careers related activities in college.
• Collate evidence for maintenance of the Quality in Careers Standard Award.
• Deal with general careers related correspondence and enquiries both by tele, letter and email.
You will have:
1. An understanding of, and support for, the ethos of the college.
2. Level 4 or 5 Qualification in CEIAG, registered with CDI.
3. Agreement to abide by Code of Ethics for Careers Guidance.
4. A knowledgeable and sound understanding of Further Education systems and careers education and guidance practices.
5. Knowledge of Quality Awards for Careers.
6. Knowledge of the curriculum and awareness of the needs of learners aged 16-25yrs., with SEND.
7. A keen interest in the concerns of learners and an understanding of the factors that impact on young people with SEND and their decision-making abilities.
8. Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage learners, staff and parents.
9. A confidence with IT and ability to utilise and take forward IT in relation to careers and higher education guidance.
10. Energy, enthusiasm, drive and an ability to cope with periods of high volume.
11. Flexibility, reliability and a high level of organisational skills.
12. An awareness of the need for personal and professional development and a willingness to participate in CPD.
