Tara are working with a reputable educational institution in Shrewsbury dedicated to providing exceptional support and education for students a range of needs including complex needs and autism. With a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join the team.
Position Overview:
As a SEN TA, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our students aged 3-19 with a range of needs, including autism and ADHD. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement tailored support plans and create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
* Timetable: Part time
* Hours of work: 8:30 – 12:30 Monday – Friday
* Start: ASAP
* Duration: October half term with potential for ongoing
Key Responsibilities for the new SEN TA:
* Assist students individually or in small groups to help them understand and complete assignments.
* Support the teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
* Work closely with teachers to develop and implement strategies to enhance student learning.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs.
* Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social skills development.
Requirements for the new SEN TA:
* Previous experience working with students with complex needs, preferably within an educational setting.
* Certificates to include supporting complex challenging behaviours and restricting physical interventions.
* Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for supporting individuals with diverse needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students facing challenges.
* Relevant qualifications or willingness to undergo training in areas such as autism awareness, behaviour management, and safeguarding.
