Are you a highly motivated band 5 dietitian with a desire to move into paediatrics? We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with excellent organisation and team working skills to take on this newly created role. This post would be ideal for anyone who has a desire to work in paediatrics but has none or very limited experience.
The post will initially be at band 5 level but once you have completed a competency-based training programme you will progress to become a permanent band 6 and enter into our rotational programme. You will be responsible for managing your own case load of patients with support from the wider team of specialist dietitians.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist dietetic services to identified paediatric sub-specialities within the Trust. This includes nutritional assessment, development and implementation of care plans and ongoing review of complex in-patients and out-patients.
* To develop and implement evidence-based protocols, standards of care and patient education information within identified areas of paediatric sub-specialities.
* To work in liaison with the advanced specialist dietitians in more complex paediatric sub-specialities in the provision of service and the development and implementation of protocols, standards of care and patient education information.
About us
At Alder Hey, we are a team of over 20 dietitians and 3 assistants. We provide dietetic care across the majority of paediatric sub-specialities including Gastroenterology, Diabetes, Respiratory, Nephrology, Cardiology, and many more. We are well respected across the Trust for our commitment to clinical dietetics and nutrition support and have excellent multi-disciplinary teams. We are a very supportive team and take seriously the development of paediatric dietitians. In addition to learning through clinical caseload management and clinical supervision, there are wide-ranging learning opportunities across the Trust, and participation in the Masters programme in paediatric dietetics will be actively encouraged. We also have P1 and P2 placement students, and there will be opportunities to be involved in their supervision.
