SEND Teaching Assistant – Chatham Required to start ASAP Full Time Supply Desk are working with a nurturing and inclusive SEND provision in Chatham, specialising in supporting primary and secondary-aged children with SEMH difficulties. The provision are committed to providing exceptional education and support tailored to the unique needs of their pupils. The goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Key Responsibilities: Assist the SEND teacher in implementing education and health care plans (EHCPs) and supporting children with SEMH difficulties in classroom activities. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they stay engaged and make progress. Help create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic and social development. Support children in developing independent learning skills and managing their emotions and behaviour effectively. Collaborate closely with the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) and other professionals to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed. Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH difficulties, preferably in an educational setting. Strong understanding of SEND and effective strategies to support learning and behaviour management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow guidance from SEND professionals and teachers. A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEND or more specifically SEMH difficulties.
