Clinical Casework The timetable and job plan will be agreed with the Medical Director to comply with the requirements of the organisation. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post-holder and Medical Director 3 months after commencing the post and reviewed at least annually thereafter in conjunction with the appraisal process. You may be required to work across our service areas, either in The Childrens Trust School or in Children and Family Services (Neurorehabilitation, Step Down and Long-Term Care). Responsibilities will include: Supervising the admission of all new children and providing regular medical consultation. Overall supervision of the children, attending regular unit meetings, arranging investigations, writing or contributing to admission and discharge summaries. Direct clinical supervision of junior medical staff (Specialty Doctors and Specialist Trainee on rotation from either London or KSS Deanery). Leading weekly medical house/ward rounds. Supervising phlebotomy, tracheostomy and gastrostomy button changes, drug charts and reports. Attending specialist clinics neuropsychiatry, neurology, orthopaedic, audiology, ophthalmology, dental, spinal, orthopaedic and movement disorders/botulinum toxin injection clinics. Training will be provided with movement disorder assessments and ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections to those willing to seek further specialisms within the job role. Approving emergency protocols. You will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams. Support the emergency response team. Contribution to the pre-admission assessments and follow up advice. Contribute to The Childrens Trust research and training programmes. To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time. Medical team Support and participate at the fortnightly medical team meetings. Participate in arrangements as required by Medical Director, e.g. timely submission of annual leave requests, study leave. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, teaching sessions and journal clubs. Participate in service development, e.g. development of policies and protocols, digitalisation of services, e.g. medical notes, clinical audits and other quality improvement projects. Research, Audit & Clinical Governance To lead on the Medical Team audits and integrating them into Clinical Governance audit programme. To participate fully in the investigation of complaints, clinical incidents and near misses in line with The Childrens Trusts policy using IRAR (an online incident reporting system). To work within the operational policies and procedures and protocols relating to the Trust. To actively participate in annual appraisal, supervision and the job plan review process. To maintain clinical CPD activity and participate in the Revalidation process. To participate in clinical governance activities. Interest in research activity will be encouraged. Education and Training To provide guidance and support to immediate medical and multi-disciplinary team colleagues and the wider service where appropriate. To participate in orientation and induction for new medical staff as appropriate. Represent the medical team and participate in The Childrens Trust wide activity as appropriate. Health and Safety Adheres to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control. Provide evidence of all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
