Job Summary
As a leader of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department, the post holder will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. They will demonstrate leadership which will encourage and promote effective teamwork and provide clinical expertise in delegated areas of the Operating Department to ensure the highest possible standards of patient care.
Main Duties of the Job
The theatre service will be coordinated to ensure effective management of personnel and resources, and they will support their own team of staff with regard to training and development ensuring that personal development plans are formulated and carried out and mandatory training is attended as and when required.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Possess HE Diploma or Degree in Operating Department Practice (or equivalent) OR RGN 1st level
* Current NMC/HCPC Registration
* Experience of supporting all learners in practice
Experience
* Minimum 2 years recent ongoing experience in a related area. Broad range of theatre/PACU experience
* Experience of documentation & record keeping
* Evidence of achievements in previous posts
* Works within current code of practice laid down by the NMC/HCPC
Skills & Knowledge
* Good communication and interpersonal skills & ability to work within and lead a multidisciplinary team
* Management/leadership skills
* Commitment to participate in teaching other team members & supporting all students in the operating department
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Knowledge of equality & diversity, clinical governance, infection control & clinical supervision and how these relate to the role
* Able to effectively manage resources (both human & material)
* Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing situations and to support staff in these types of situations
