Anatomy Technician
A position is available for an Anatomy Technician to provide professional technical support to the Anatomy Centre.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a technical support environment, experience of carrying out administrative tasks and experience of dealing with personal or sensitive communications and information with sensitivity and confidentiality.
This post is full-time (35 hours) and available from 1 May 2025, fixed term until 30 April 2026, to provide cover for absence.
Salary: £24,900 - £25,733 per annum (Grade 3). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.

Job Description
Job purpose
To provide professional technical support to the Anatomy Centre.
Duties and responsibilities
Key duties
1. Provide a service to staff and students by maintaining, servicing and repairing materials, machinery and equipment within the area of responsibility, advising and training staff and students on their appropriate use using established guidelines.
2. Prepare all materials and equipment as necessary for customer use and ensure area of responsibility is kept clean and tidy.
3. Undertake stock control, ensuring adequate security and levels of stock are maintained and stock is distributed as required.
4. Deal with routine enquiries from internal and external customers in a professional manner, following established procedures, referring complex enquiries to relevant staff members, ensuring all relevant facts and information needed is recorded and passed on.
5. Assist in the maintenance of routine records, updating databases and analysing routine data/information as required.
6. Record the results of experiments in a presentable and user-friendly format and assist staff and students in the preparation of technical data/materials for future reference such as publication or teaching purposes.
7. Plan and manage small projects ensuring the effective use of resources.
8. Participate actively within the work team, setting an example and showing a flexible approach to delivering team results.
General duties

Qualifications And Education
1. NVQ 2/GCSE level A-C or equivalent qualification/work-related experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
1. Experience in maintaining equipment.
2. Experience in working in a technical support role.
3. Proficient in the use of appropriate IT packages including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Communication and Team Working
1. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people, to understand and interpret complex information and communicate salient points to others.
2. Evidence of working well as an effective team member, providing advice and guidance to other team members where necessary.
3. Ability to deal promptly, effectively and courteously with requests for information or service.
Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving
1. Ability to use initiative in solving problems and responding to queries ensuring compliance with standard procedures and practices.
2. Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised to deadlines, planning, organising and setting priorities for own work, as well as managing small projects as appropriate.
Other
1. A willingness to undertake further training and development.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of carrying out administrative tasks.
2. Knowledge of the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
3. A basic knowledge of the Human Tissue Act 2004.
4. Experience in embalming and other mortuary procedures.
5. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
