Leonardo UK Operational Analyst - GCAP Programme
Leonardo UK is seeking Operational Analysts for the Global Combat Air System Programme (GCAP), which involves delivering Tempest, a next-generation fighter aircraft intended to replace the RAF’s Typhoon.
The role involves working on advanced tactical sensing, data fusion, communications, machine learning, and defensive systems, enabling Tempest to operate effectively in highly contested environments.
The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams to develop and integrate complex mission systems, conduct testing and evaluation within synthetic environments and airborne trials, and support ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and air platform engineering teams.
This is an international role with opportunities to travel and collaborate with teams in the UK, Italy, and Japan.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be capable of achieving at least SC security clearance and may require access to sensitive information. Please refer to the UK National Security Vetting site for more details.
Location
Work will be based at Luton, Bristol, or Lincoln, with some office-based requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with system and domain experts to define scenarios and models for key technologies.
2. Support war gaming, simulation, and analysis to develop requirements and architectures for military capabilities.
3. Model synthetic environments using commercial and bespoke simulation tools.
4. Develop engineering specifications, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
* Ability and desire to gain SC security clearance.
* Degree or equivalent experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths.
* Proven problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex systems.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Self-motivated with a drive to succeed.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with military operating environments, particularly aircrew threats.
* Knowledge of simulation tools (e.g., Simulink) and programming languages (C, C++, Python).
* Experience with Agile methodologies.
* Understanding of sensors like RADAR, EO/IR, ESM, EA.
* Experience in military environments and trials.
* Basic systems engineering knowledge.
