Family Support Worker - Central Manchester
Do you have a passion for supporting families and helping young people overcome challenges? We are recruiting a Family Support Worker to join a highly regarded secondary school in Hulme (M15), rated Good by OFSTED.
This school focuses on supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, creating a safe and nurturing environment to help them achieve their potential.
Role
The role involves engaging directly with families and social workers to support young people in accessing their education effectively.
Many of the pupils face significant challenges, including the impact of drug abuse, family issues, trauma, neglect, and mental health difficulties. They may struggle with school attendance and display behavioural challenges, but each student has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) to guide their individual support needs.
The school fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, with a low staff turnover. Many staff initially placed by us are offered permanent contracts after just 12 weeks.
A good knowledge of the Hulme and Moss Side areas would be beneficial for this role.
Requirements:
- Experience in social work, safeguarding, or pastoral care.
- A caring nature and the ability to build positive relationships with families and young people.
- Relevant transferable skills from teaching, support work, prison work, or similar roles involving challenging behaviour.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Additional Benefits:
We provide FREE Team Teach training every half term to fully equip you for the challenges of the role.
