Our Communications division plays a crucial role in delivering integrated power and communications solutions, and we are looking for a SHEQ Manager - Communications to lead SHEQ initiatives, drive compliance, and enhance safety culture across our projects.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As the SHEQ Manager - Communications, you will be the primary point of contact for all SHEQ-related matters within the Communications division. You will work closely with operational teams, contractors, clients, and regulators, ensuring full compliance with legislation, industry standards, and best practices. This role involves leading a growing SHEQ team (currently 3 direct reports), conducting audits, and implementing SHEQ strategies that drive continuous improvement.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
1. Providing expert SHEQ guidance to employees, contractors, and clients
2. Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards
3. Leading and developing the Communications SHEQ Team
4. Overseeing accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented
5. Conducting regular audits and inspections to monitor SHEQ performance
6. Supporting the development and roll-out of annual SHEQ plans and improvement projects
7. Encouraging proactive safety reporting of near misses, hazards, and observations
8. Working closely with operational teams to ensure all SHEQ documentation is accurate and up to date
9. Championing SHEQ culture by setting an example in leadership and behaviour
WHAT IT TAKES
1. 3+ years’ experience in a SHEQ leadership role within the utilities or engineering sector
2. Extensive knowledge of NRSWA, HSG47, ISO 14001 & 45001
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Proven experience in leading SHEQ improvement projects
6. Self-motivated leader, able to inspire change and drive continuous improvement
7. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Essential Qualifications:
1. Degree in a relevant discipline
2. NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6/7 SHEQ qualification
3. Chartered IOSH Membership
4. ISO Lead Auditor (desirable)
5. Lean or Six Sigma qualification (desirable)
