Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking to appoint a senior Physiotherapist to lead the inpatient rehabilitation Physiotherapy team based at Petersfield Community Hospital.
You will clinically lead and manage a team of Physiotherapists offering a rehabilitation service to patients with a range of functional and rehabilitative needs, including neurological, orthopaedic, medical, palliative, and frailty. Working closely with the Occupational Therapy Team Lead, you will deliver a joined-up therapy service that embraces our shared skills. As Physiotherapy team lead, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and rehabilitation to patients from acute or community step-up. Your relationships with community therapy teams will be important in order to support the flow of patients between inpatient and community rehabilitation.
Excellent CPD opportunities, including structured supervision, peer support groups, and appraisal systems are in place. You will take part in supervision and appraisals of staff and students within the Occupational Therapy team.
The service currently operates between Monday to Friday; however, this may be reviewed in the future to extend the functions of the team to a 7-day service.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide clinical and professional therapy leadership to the Community Therapy Team / Inpatient rehab team, and to provide support to the Community Care team leaders in ensuring that the Integrated Community Care Teams contribute to the implementation of Clinical Governance Strategies.
2. Undertake advanced specialist therapeutic assessments (appropriate to clinical qualification and profession) of patients with diverse and complex conditions, providing a clinical diagnosis (where appropriate), development, and delivery of individualised treatment programmes.
3. Support the case management process by providing expert clinical advice and therapy to patients with a variety of complex conditions living in the community or within one of our inpatient rehabilitation units who are at risk of deteriorating health that may result in declining quality of life or avoidable hospital admission or an unnecessary longer length of stay.
4. Implement professional and operational issues relating to the provision and development of the community therapy team, also supporting the Community Therapy Lead in the provision of Community Therapy Services across South East Hampshire.
5. Lead the team, working to ensure effective operational performance within the appropriate budgetary constraints.
6. Take responsibility for the operational management of the team including recruitment and selection, appraisal, CPD, and disciplinary procedures.
