We are seeking a caring, patient and committed person to join us at Catherine Wayte Primary School. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator to support a current Foundation Stage child with communication and interaction additional needs and an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP in place). Support is required both in the classroom and at play/lunchtimes. Some intimate care support may be required. Good communication skills and the ability to use positive behaviour management strategies are essential. An understanding of autism and intensive interaction is desirable but not essential.The hours will be 17.5 – 22.5hrs pw (8.30am – 12pm or 1pm)Please see Job Description and person specification which are attached. You will need to be able to plan, deliver and monitor learning to meet the needs of the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan, as well as adapting materials to support the child’s learning and development.

• Ability to build a positive working relationship with parents and carers
• Empathy and understanding of children's individual learning abilities
• Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children with special educational needs
• Patience and a good sense of humour
• Willingness to liaise and work with outside agencies such as Speech and Language therapist
• Flexibility.
