The position of support worker will require you to have excellent personal skills and a genuine interest in young people. You will need to be enthusiastic about enabling people and able to advocate on behalf of young and/or vulnerable people. Above all, you will need to be passionate about helping people fulfill their potential. You will be helping young people complete a qualification in animal care and supporting adults in their farming job role.
Flexibility is essential, and you must be willing to undertake practical, purposeful activities in an outdoor environment. Your day may involve supporting individuals to feed the alpacas or pigs, clean a chicken cage, or make a poster. Your day will be diverse and never the same.
Job Purpose:
Assisting with the day-to-day running of all aspects of the care farm:
* Support the care farm manager to carry out the day-to-day tasks of the care farm.
* Provide support and supervision for people attending the care farm to ensure they are safe and able to carry out the activities to the best of their abilities.
* Help to make the farm a safe and interesting place for the care farm learners and visitors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Animal husbandry – assist the care farm users to feed the animals and clean their pens.
* Supervise and assist with teaching modules of animal care.
* Enable and encourage participants in the tasks and activities they choose to engage in.
* General cleaning of storage and barn areas.
* Work with volunteers who will be supporting participants attending the sessions.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £11.44 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 37.5 per week

* Monday to Friday
