Job Purpose
To provide Mechanical maintenance and technical support to the Water Production, Catchment and Network teams to maintain security of supplies and deliver the best quality water to our customers.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* To provide an efficient mechanical maintenance and repair service, thus ensuring the optimal availability of water assets, whilst at the same time keeping within budget and quality parameters.
* To analyse faults, rectify and ensure correct operation of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and systems-based equipment, thereby optimising the availability of water assets.
* To perform planned and proactive maintenance activities to ensure asset availability and efficient operation.
* Responsible in conjunction with the Scheduling team, for completing all planned, proactive and reactive work scheduled within agreed service levels.
* To liaise closely with the Technical Co-ordinator and Scheduling Coordinator to ensure an effective and efficient schedule of work is developed and delivered.
* To control Capex and Opex spend with external service and equipment providers to ensure value for money, when the outsourcing of work or procurement of goods is necessary.
* To complete as much work as possible in-house as is safe and reasonably practicable to do and to identify these opportunities and areas for specialised training to avoid the need to employ contractors wherever possible.
Technical Skills & Experience
Skills:
* Ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated with strong problem solving skills and possess the required technical competence.
* Able and willing to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to chlorine gas systems and high voltage installations.
* Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills.
Experience:
* Preferable: Water Industry Experience- 3 years +.
* Experience of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems and associated networks to perform fault diagnostics, assist with disaster recovery and small system modifications.
* A practical and theoretical knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry and motor control system is required.
* Where appropriate possess a sound working knowledge of Simocode, Profitbus and similar industrial technology systems.
* Knowledge of safe systems of work, Company policy, statutory regulations, operations procedures, maintenance procedures and administration procedures.
* Experience and training on purchase Card, SAP, breathing apparatus, abrasive wheels, confined spaces, lifting equipment One Workbook, Asset registration and De-Registration (ARDR), Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWP) PASMA, chlorine and sulphur dioxide gases is preferable.
Qualifications
* A time served apprenticeship or equivalent, supported with academic qualifications ideally to HNC or minimum ONC equivalent in a relevant technical area.
* A desire to work towards flexi skilling leading to the NVQ Level 3.
* Ensure that throughout your career the required skills competence and recency in all relevant subject matter are maintained.
* A valid driving licence.
