Speech and Language Therapist (Band 5-6) Development

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist within the Adult Learning Disability Service based in Rotherham. We are looking for a Band 6 Therapist or an experienced Band 5 who would like to work towards a Band 6 role with support and guidance. If you have a passion for working with adults with a learning disability, we would love to hear from you.
As well as working within a supportive Speech and Language Therapy service, the successful applicant will join an established multi-disciplinary team working alongside Community Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Psychological Therapy to deliver person-centred care to individuals with a wide range of communication, eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
We are looking for a compassionate and hard-working candidate who has a good knowledge of evidence-based practice, has access to transport and the ability to travel around the required geographical area.
Main duties of the job
* Supporting service users with their communication needs.
* Supporting service users with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
* Working within the service's established multi-disciplinary team pathways.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Current professional registration with the HCPC
* Evidence of related CPD
* Training in alternative and augmentative communication
Experience
* Experience working with adults with learning disabilities
* Practical knowledge of the assessment for, and implementation of AAC systems (low and high tech)
* Knowledge of policy and practice in relation to SLT and Learning Disability
