TPE has an exciting opportunity to join us as Head of Environment and Decarbonisation. The purpose of this role is to provide strong, strategic and engaging leadership for the Company on its journey to Net Zero and to manage the Company's environmental performance, risks, issues and opportunities along the way. Our Head of Environment and Decarbonisation will work with a range of fellow TPE Senior Managers to maintain and advance TPE's overall sustainability strategy and with internal and external stakeholders to measure, manage and continuously improve the Company's decarbonisation and environmental sustainability performance. The role will lead TPE's management of acute environmental impact issue including its statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations in respect of air quality, noise energy and water consumption and pollution incidents or situations. The Head of Environment and Decarbonisation will be responsible for overall management of the TPE Environmental Sustainability Team within the Engineering Safety and Environment directorate, and of the budgets assigned to the team. The role will also be the Senior Management sponsor for environmental sustainability projects, ensuring that in the changes we make to improve our environmental sustainability we comply with TPE's corporate governance processes and apply excellent project management rigour. The Head of Environment and Decarbonisation will be TPE's foremost representative in the subject matter in the various pan-industry groups and forums, where they will be expected to engage, represent and influence well in support of TPE's objectives and to adapt that engagement as the rail industry goes through significant reshaping in the months and years to come. Our Head of Environment and Decarbonisation will have a BA / BSc in Environmental Management or other relevant degree and will be a member of the IEMA or other related professional body; ideally they will have MA / MSc post-graduate qualifications and be a Chartered Environmentalist. We will look for strong experience of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO50001 Energy Management Systems and a sound demonstrable knowledge of sustainable development principles. Strong candidates for this role will demonstrate experience in sustainability strategy-forming, reporting, setting of targets and management of risks, issues and opportunities in all those things. Our Head of Environment and Decarbonisation will exhibit strong parallel capabilities for managing process and project, and will be the Company's premier subject matter expert, identifying, setting and advocating TPE's environmental and decarbonisation strategies.
