School Caretaker Position
Empowering Learning Teesside is working with a school based in Gateshead looking for a School Caretaker to work at a Primary school.
The successful candidate will take pride in how this welcoming school looks and functions, and be able to work strategically when dealing with staff management and health and safety. The caretaker will have a good range of experience including general DIY, cleaning, and maintenance, and will be able to communicate effectively.
Purpose of this position:
To be responsible for the planning and delivery of all aspects of maintenance and health and safety relating to the school's buildings and grounds, including the maintenance, security, and facilities management on the school premises to ensure a safe environment for staff, pupils, and visitors.
Role Responsibilities:
* Assume overall responsibility for the smooth running of the building in all respects and supervise any contractors working on site.
* Ensure security is maintained at the building, including the management and maintenance of security systems.
* Keep common areas clean and tidy.
* Handle administrative matters relating to the management of the building and staff, cooperating closely with the Managing Agent.
* Monitor the presence of contractors around the building and supervise their activities to ensure minimum disturbance to residents.
* Perform routine checks of the building, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire doors.
* Carry out minor maintenance works.
Working Hours:
This position will include opening the school and closing each evening. The shifts are split: 7am-1pm and 4:30pm-6pm.
