The women and children we support are at the heart of all we do. We offer a range of services, including a helpline, accommodation, support for those living in the local community, advocacy and advice, specialist programmes, counselling and therapy, and children’s services. Our trained staff have expertise to ensure we can support women and children across several different areas. Job Purpose We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Helpline Advisor to join our team, supporting women experiencing domestic abuse and at risk of homelessness. You will play a key role in ensuring The Haven Wolverhampton’s 24/7 helpline operates effectively and professionally, adhering to its quality standards while promoting best practices. As first point of contact, you will provide safety planning, complete risk assessments, and offer guidance to women seeking help. You will work with high-risk self-referrals, managing the MARAC process, and implementing immediate safeguarding actions to ensure the safety of those at risk. Collaborating with external agencies and internal specialist teams, you will develop tailored support packages, addressing a wide range of needs, including substance dependency, mental health issues, no recourse to public funds, and specialist support for children. The role requires you to respond quickly and decisively, applying appropriate safeguarding escalation as needed. You will also provide options and support for safe accommodation, community outreach services, and professional agencies seeking referral advice.. In addition to direct service delivery, you will work closely with the Helpline Lead to shape and implement the Helpline Strategy. This includes identifying and developing new referral pathways, evaluating service offerings, and ensuring that all partner services provide safe and effective support. You will collaborate with other service teams, including those supporting high-risk cases, children’s services, and counselling and wellbeing services, to deliver a holistic and accessible support system. Your responsibilities will also involve contributing to service improvements by recommending and implementing innovative solutions and digital options for women accessing the service. You will support with regular reviews of risk assessment tools, admission processes, and safeguarding policies, advising on updates to ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and contractual requirements.
