Manpower are currently recruiting for a Prep Paint Technician for a prestigious client based in Birmingham on a temporary ongoing basis with an immediate start.
The Prep Paint Technician is an integral part of our business, with the main purpose of this role being to ensure the repair of motor vehicles of all types is carried out to motor manufacturer industry standards or repair methods.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To observe, recognise and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.
2. To ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customers, or that faults have been reported and noted on the job card.
3. Removal and safe storage of vehicle components, fluids and gases as directed by work order.
4. Removal and safe disposal of vehicle components and fluids as directed by work order.
5. Quality control of all repairs, with final stage sign off.
6. To report all faults and defects noticed while working on vehicles.
7. To actively ensure the repair method is in the job pack and is fully read, understood (e-scribe, manufacturer or other source) and displayed with the vehicle at all times.
8. To interpret and implement technical service instruction data.
9. To indent for replacement parts and record usage.
10. Paint repair - to be able to accurately use paint mixing schemes, computerised scales, spray booths and drying lamps.
11. Application of topcoat to manufacturer's specification.
12. Preparation of repaired areas as directed by work order, in readiness for the application of topcoat.
Skills Required:
1. Experience in prep and polish work within an automotive bodyshop environment.
2. Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, and polishing techniques.
3. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
4. A keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering flawless finishes.
5. Team player with a proactive attitude.
This is a temporary ongoing position with an immediate start working days, paying £19.23 per hour.
