These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone. We are looking for a M and E Technical Engineering Manager to join our team. Where in Wellcome will I be working? You will be leading M&E Technical Engineering work and strategic asset management within the Facilities and Workplace Services department, reporting to Senior Manager, Project Delivery and Asset Management. The Facilites and Workplace Services team are responsible for the maintenance and Wellcome's operational buildings in the UK and for the services that are required to run them, e.g. catering, security, cleaning, etc. There are three main buildings: an owner-occupied office building, an owner-occupied cultural arts venue and library, and a leased warehouse facility. The team operate as an intelligent client on behalf of Wellcome, ensuring that its outsourced service partners are delivering the best services, within agreed performance levels. These facilities support Wellcome in carrying out its mission. What will I be doing? The purpose of the role is to provide the technical expertise for Wellcome to perform the intelligent client function and to ensure its MEP assets are managed in accordance with Wellcome’s priorities. The role has two main functions: assurance and technical authority/strategic direction. Assurance o f the asset register and condition ratings Assurance o f technical solutions presented by Service Partners and Project Engineers Technical Authority & Strategic Direction of a sset maintenance, replacement and repair Technical Authority & Strategic Direction of Wellcome’s equipment specifications Technical Authority & Strategic Direction of Wellcome’s equipment operating requirement Technical Authority & Strategic Direction of Plant & equipment processes and policies As the M&E Technical Engineering Manager, you will: Set the strategic direction (Asset Management Strategy) and policies for the M&E Service Partner to create a progressive, innovation-driven and continuous improvement-mindset led asset maintenance regime Be responsible for maintaining and developing the Asset Register – ensuring it is kept up to date and accurate, including providing technical approvals for asset changes – ensuring they are properly recorded and the correct PPM schedule is in place. Commission and act on buildings condition reports to provide a full assessment to support the development of a proactive and prioritised maintenance, repair, and replacement plan. Technical review and assurance of reports and engineering solutions proposed by F&W suppliers. Be responsible for owning the forward maintenance register and asset replacement strategy and plan, using data to drive strategic asset replacement and maintenance. Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments. Is this job for me? This role requires the application of your technical experience and knowledge to provide forward thinking and strategic advice to Wellcome. You should be comfortable writing technical documentation, analysing data and providing clear written and verbal presentations of information. The position will require the ability to work individually, with autonomy to deliver technical documentation and planning requirements, but also be excellent at working across the wider facilities team, ensuring their work is aligned with the overall outputs of the function. We are looking for someone who has: Operational knowledge of all key M&E services and associated maintenance regiemes. Experience writing technical equipment specifications, processes & standards Experience in facilities asset management and asset management strategy Able to analyse technical reports and devise risk based, proportionate management strategies. An excellent communicator - verbally and in writing - able to turn technical data into clearly articulated plans and information for a wide range of stakeholders, including service partners, members of Wellcome's executive and other internal colleagues.
