Hours of work: 40 hours per week - 9am to 6pm (some flexibility may be required for operational cover with operational hours being 6am – 6pm)

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Transport Manager to join our dynamic transport team. The Assistant Transport manager will support with transport planning and coordination, management of the team and its performance and ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company policies.
The role:
* Planning and coordinating transportation routes to ensure timely delivery of goods. Ensuring timed deliveries are achieved and vehicles are not overloaded.
* Monitor and manage the performance of the transport team, including drivers and administration staff including KPI’s and performance
* Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company policies, including health and safety standards. Including meeting O Licence and FORS standards.
* Manage vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure all vehicles are in optimal working condition.
* Handle customer inquiries and resolve any transport-related issues promptly and effectively.
* Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery logs, ensuring PODs by drivers are receipted electronically.
* Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of transport staff.
* Implement and oversee efficient loading and unloading procedures to minimise delays.
* Analyse transport data and reports to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
* Support the Transport Manager in managing the transport budget and controlling costs.
* Manage depot PCNs, appealing and reviewing route cause and providing analysis.
Skills and Experience:
* Excellent geographical knowledge of London and surrounding areas - Essential
* Route planning and fleet management (Mixed fleet of vans and HGVs) - Essential
* KPI Management - Essential
* Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements including FORS - Essential
* Strong leadership and team management abilities - Essential
* Good communication and interpersonal skills - Essential
* Knowledge of Podfather and Netsuite - Desired
* Knowledge of international shipping - Desired
* Experience with managing and maintaining FORS accreditation to Silver standard - Desired
