The Clinical Engineering Department is primarily concerned with providing repair, calibration, commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment in BHR University Hospitals NHS Trust, to ensure medical equipment operates effectively and safely with a minimum of downtime.
The Post holder will carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical equipment. The Post holder is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability.
The Post holder will liaise with clinical, administrative and technical staff to identify faults and repair technical equipment that may require making adaptations. This will include working in clinical areas, communicating and working with equipment manufacturers and equipment suppliers, persuading, negotiating and motivating to obtain external assistance, price discounts and reporting back to line management outcomes.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.
We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
