Job Description
The General Ledger Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on General Ledger accounting. This position is also responsible for supporting the Financial Accounting Manager in conducting key activities such as month-end and quarter-end close, Fixed Assets, Account Reconciliations and Audits. You will be recording and processing a vast range of financial transactions. A General Ledger Accountant is essential for financial reporting, and requires liaison with various departments and individuals across the DO & CO family.
1. To build and maintain excellent working relationships with other department ensuring the provision of a positive and professional service
2. Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure data accuracy.
3. Forward thinking administrator always looking to exceed targets and expectations whilst maintaining the collectiveness of the team and culture of DO & CO
4. Maintaining good working relationships with all DO & CO family members as well as our partners, vendors, and other stakeholders
5. Supporting Financial Accounting Manager with daily tasks as required
6. Conducting accurate record keeping for audit trial and reporting purposes as well as feeding into month end closure activities
7. Maintaining and updating the fixed assets database and intercompany recharge management
8. Prepare, review and submit VAT returns in compliance with regional and international requirements.
9. Monitor VAT transactions and ensure accurate reporting
10. Conduct internal audit to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies
11. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits
12. Manage and oversee financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
13. Perform reconciliations and analysis of accounts to ensure data integrity
14. Supporting the team with ad hoc requests as and when needed
Qualifications
* BSc in Accounting, Finance or Mathematics or relevant experience in a Financial Administrator/ Assistant role
* Ready to roll up your sleeves and do what is needed to give our partners the best service with a problem-solving mentality
* Motivation to deliver exceptional service
* Well presented, professional individual with a can-do, positive attitude that indulges in team success
* Self-motivation, resilience, and a positive change champion for DO & CO in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adapting
* Experience in dealing with customs would be an advantage
* Meticulous attention to detail and precise record keeping skills
* Build strong relationships within the DO & CO Family, creating a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best
* You are a clear and engaging communicator, strong written and verbal English, and will use a variety of methods to keep the DO & CO Family well informed as well as internal and external stakeholders
* Flexible in the way you think, making decisions efficiently and handling change to ensure everything we do is right for our partners and the DO & CO family
* Highly proficient in excel with excellent working knowledge of accounting software packages and the ability to handle and integrate data sources, both manual and electronic
* Good working knowledge of UK tax, auditing, and commercial regulatory rules
