To support our continued growth and demand for our products and solutions, we are looking for a highly experienced Senior Engineer to be based in our facility in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
This is an opportunity to work within our Engineering Team, and as part of a wider Value Stream, leading technical engineering support for our existing product range, as well as supporting product design, test and customisation initiatives as required by our extensive customer base.

Purpose of Role
As part of the AMOT engineering group, working under limited supervision, undertake a variety of engineering tasks using knowledge, experience, initiative, and independent judgement to support global business demands.
* Complete engineering design and drafting work to support existing AMOT product ranges, as part of continuous improvement and business support initiatives.
* Support local Product Value Streams to deliver best-practice, high-quality manufacturing by providing technical engineering support as part of a cross-functional team, including production, planning/purchasing and quality/manufacturing engineering departments.
* Following best engineering practice, lead enhancement and/or customisation developments to existing products, as driven by customer requirements and opportunities.
* Support global engineering product development initiatives providing design, drafting, and validation testing as required.
Essential Functions/Duties
* Manage the completion of incoming engineering support tasks based on business priorities, typically including:
o Completion of part/product design and drafting changes required for incoming Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
o Creation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
o Supporting the execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in the business ERP system.
* Collaborate effectively with other departments as part of a Product Value Stream, leading technical engineering support to the group. Examples of support required include:
o Technical queries arising from suppliers or inhouse manufacturing, which may require existing design/drawing review and update, following the engineering change process as above.
o Technical analysis of component parts and assemblies against engineering drawings and standards.
o Product application support.
* In support of customer product/project specification requirements, manage enhancement or customisation projects on the existing product portfolio, which may include:
o Reviewing customer requirements and generating a product specification.
o The creation and management of a project plan, providing global visibility.
o Detailed design of piece-parts and assemblies.
o Detailed 2D drawings, 3D models and technical documentation.
o Prototype development and test where necessary.
o Liaison with internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
o Product release to production.
* In support of business-critical development projects, provide assistance to the development team, to include:
o Design, detailing and drafting component parts and assemblies.
o Participation in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
o Participation in regular design reviews, leading discussions surrounding the area of work involved in.
o Leading local test and qualification efforts.
* Create, or manage external services to create manuals, instruction sheets and other technical documentation for products to include procedures, limitations of use, maintenance, spares, warnings, overviews and any other relevant or necessary information.
* Follow all defined internal quality procedures, and internal design standards. Ensure that designed parts/products comply with all compulsory standards applicable to the product and country of sale.
* Accurately maintain the AMOT business and document management systems as required.
* Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Respond to change productively and undertake any other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications
Professionally qualified to a degree standard in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
Experience
A minimum of 4 years relevant engineering experience.
Knowledge & Skills
* Comprehensive working knowledge of 2D drafting using Autodesk AutoCAD, including Geometric Dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), to BS:8888.
* Comprehensive knowledge of 3D solid part and assembly modelling, using 3D design software.
* Knowledge of document creation and revision control using document management software.
* Knowledge of UK, EU & US product design and certification standards.
* Experienced in maintaining the design and engineering documentation of existing component parts, subassemblies and end products.
* Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Do you have knowledge and/or experience of using Autodesk Inventor?
* Knowledge and/or experience of using Autodesk Vault.
* Experience of leading or being a part of Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEA / PFMEA).
* Knowledge and/or experience Casting process and design.
* Knowledge and/or experience of Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Knowledge and/or experience of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
* Knowledge and/or experience of working with Fluid dynamics modelling (CFD).
