Summary
Fabrication and Welding Apprentices will work with all colleagues within our Manufacturing facility at Bury. In addition to Manufacturing colleagues, apprentices will meet our clients and suppliers, in addition to attending Rochdale Training to complete the qualification(s) within the Apprenticeship Standard.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Assist in maintaining an injury free workplace where everybody goes home safely.
* Produce galvanised sheet metal products for Smoke Systems, Ventilation and Extraction using various types of hand and power tools and spot-welding techniques.
* Manufacture stainless steel high integrity systems, using welding techniques as MIG/MAG, TIG and Robotic Welding. The safe use of different machinery within the manufacturing process including the CNC Press Brake, Laser Cutter, and Iron Worker.
* Access drawings, models, and documentation via personal tablet, to enable accurate production. Implement EHL ‘Core Values’ within daily tasks.
* Develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours working alongside highly skilled colleagues who will offer support and guidance throughout the apprenticeship.
* Manufacture products in accordance with drawings and models.
* Liaise with colleagues from Environment, Safety and Health to ensure a safe working environment.
* Work alongside colleagues from Quality to ensure the highest standard of production in accordance with client requirements.
* Work towards the Fabrication and Welding Standard including End of Point of Assessment, attending external Training Provider on a monthly and/or weekly basis.

* Work safely at all times, comply with health & safety legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.

* Obtain, check and use the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation).
* Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity.
* Undertake the work activity using the correct processes, procedures and equipment.
* Carry out the required checks (such as quality, compliance or testing) using the correct procedures, processes and/or equipment.
* Deal promptly and effectively with problems within the limits of their responsibility using approved diagnostic methods and techniques and report those which cannot be resolved to the appropriate personnel.
* Complete any required documentation using the defined recording systems at the appropriate stages of the work activity.
* Restore the work area on completion of the activity and where applicable return any resources and consumables to the appropriate location.
* Identify and follow correct Metal work instructions, specifications, drawing etc.
* Mark out using appropriate tools and techniques.
* Cut and form Metal for the production or maintenance of fabricated products.
* Produce and assemble Metal products to required specification and quality requirements.

* Carry out the relevant preparation before starting the joining fabrication activity.

Your training plan
Training will take place both on-site at Hargreaves and in week blocks based at Rochdale Training.
