The postholder will be involved in all aspects of the work across diagnostic radiology including non-ionising areas such as MRI, ultrasound, lasers and UV. Radiation protection / waste advisory support is also provided to a number of Nuclear Medicine departments, PET/CT scanners and radiotherapy centres. Applicants will be expected to be registered healthcare professionals and be certified as an RPA and MPE. Other qualified expert certification such as RWA, LPA or MRSE would be expected or support provided in attaining. High level management and financial responsibilities will also be part of the role. To act as a Consultant Clinical Scientist and one of two Deputies to the Head of Service. Share or spilt responsible between deputies to overseeing the day to day running of the annual operation of services to clients, supporting in service and scientific development and driving improvements. Working with and managing other team members in the provision of a comprehensive radiation protection and radiological physics service. To manage the teaching and training responsibilities both internally and external courses. To support with financial aspects of the department such as budgeting, quoting and invoicing. To act as a qualified expert under the relevant regulations, in particular as a Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert (MPE). To participate in all areas of work, and to take on responsibility for key aspects of the service. The post holder will work at a very senior professional level, providing advice and services to employers facilitating regulatory compliance. Issues are very specialist, varied and highly complex. It is expected that the post holder will be able to operate with a high degree of autonomy, particularly in the areas for which they are responsible. They will be expected to routinely work with senior trust management and executives and supporting the head of department in all areas of the service.
