Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support team at Abingdon & Witney College is expanding this September and we are therefore looking to appoint professional, energetic and enthusiastic people with excellent communication skills to support our students in a variety of learning environments for the educational year. A good working knowledge of Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs), with experience of working with young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), as well as strategies for other SEN supported needs is required. Training will also be provided.
These are varied roles and require dedicated individuals who enjoy working with young people, some of whom have complex needs. You will possess the skills to support students studying from Entry Level to Level 3, enabling the students to succeed and achieve their full potential academically. The successful candidates will be responsible for working closely with teaching and cross college support staff to ensure that all students progress onto further programmes of study or employment by achieving all elements of their study programme including maths and English, as well as developing skills essential for life and independence.
The role involves working with students on a 1:1 basis, providing classroom and pastoral support and facilitating workshop activities in group situations. We work with amazing young people who have a range of learning and support needs; every day is different, and the support needs will vary. The college has a friendly, supportive culture focused on bringing out the best in every individual.
In return, Abingdon & Witney College offers excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme, and much more.
