These posts are on a 2 year fixed term basis with possibility for extension depending on on-going rota vacancies and clinical performance during employment. These post could be accessible through the MTI route. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work under close supervision of a very supportive team of Consultants. The successful applicant will support the Consultant Paediatric team in the delivery of Acute Paediatric Services. Alongside the Acute Services there will be the opportunity to gain clinical exposure in the sub-specialty areas available in the department including Paediatric Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes / Endocrinology or Neonatology.
Relocation Expenses We are offering a joining package of a maximum of £1,500 to assist with relocation expenses and setting up residence in Doncaster. On arrival in Doncaster we will ensure you have an assigned personnel from the Medical HR Team to help with transitioning into the post and new location as smooth as possible.

Main duties of the job
The post will mainly involve working in the acute clinical areas including the Childrens Observation Unit (CHOU), Childrens Ward (CHW) and the Neonatal Unit (NNU) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary although there will be some cross site working. This will include contributing to the Paediatric Registrar rota, working an average 1:7 rota for out of hours work (long days, weekends and night shifts). There may be the possibility of attending outpatient clinics dependant on rota commitments.
2. The successful candidate will share cross site on-call and other clinical commitments with other Paediatrics colleague's on a rota system which is EWTD compliant.
3. Together with clinical colleagues provide a comprehensive Paediatric and Child Health Service for Doncaster.
4. Provide prospective cover for holiday, Study Leave and the first 48 hours of sickness/absence of a colleague.
5. Provide input to the Paediatric education and training within the department.
6. To participate in Consultant Led General Paediatric and Specialty clinics.

7. The successful candidate will share on-call and other clinical commitments with other higher Trainees, Specialty Doctors and Trust Appointed Doctors on a cross site rota which is EWTD compliant. The cross site rota is a hybrid rota supported by higher Trainees, Specialty Doctors and Trust Appointed Doctors, resident On-Call Consultants and an ANNP (on the Neonatal unit). Areas of Acute work will include the Childrens Observation Unit, Childrens Ward and our Level 2 Neonatal unit.

Location of Duties
11. The post will, be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, however, the role will include cross site working at Bassetlaw Hospital.
12. Out of Hours working will be included on the rota, including prospective cover, which allows and allowance for prospective cover of planned absences (Annual Leave and Study Leave). You may occasionally be required to cover unplanned absences of other colleagues to ensure patient care and minimise the use of Medical Agency Staffing.
Training
13. The appointee will be able to participate in clinical audit and contribute to its development in the department and throughout the Trust. A contribution to teaching and training of medical and other staff where appropriate is required.
14. The Divisions are supported by the Trusts Audit and Research department.
15. Study Leave is granted in accordance with the terms and conditions of service and for approved coursed is granted with the approval of the Consultant concerned and the College Tutor.
16. Excellent post-graduate facilities are available at Nottingham and Sheffield Universities, and also locally at our Post-Graduate Medical Education Centre.
Personal Development
17. Clinical supervision will be provided by a named Consultant. The appointees will be expected to work to continue to fulfil the requirements for GMC revalidation

Essential
18. Full GMC Registration and continue to hold a license to practise
19. MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
20. Completion FY1/2 and ST1-3 Training or SHO equivalent within Paediatrics including General Paediatric and Neonatal posts
21. MRCPCH (written) and MHCHB or equivalent
Experience and Achievements

22. Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in Paediatrics expected of a doctor at ST4 - ST5 and above level
23. Experience of both inpatient and outpatient activity, at expectation for middle grade competencies
24. Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the Speciality and to support the junior medical staff and nursing team.
25. Competence in procedural skills relevant to the level of the post
