Transport Planner - Manchester - Up to £39,000
Our client, a transport company, is looking for a Transport Planner with flatbed experience to join their team in the Manchester area.
The Transport Operator will play a central role in creating an effective transport plan for their customers while complying with legal responsibilities, enhancing service, meeting revenue targets, and optimizing vehicle utilization.

Hours: 07:00-17:00 or 08:00-18:00 - Monday to Friday (On-call one week in 3)
Salary: £39,000 DOE
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Accurate use of TMS, vehicle tracking system, monitoring deliveries, failures, rejections, and rebooks, while ensuring appropriate revenues are captured and invoiced.
2. Listen and respond to customer requests and adhere to agreed SLAs.
3. Prioritize and plan workloads in line with company KPIs.
4. Operate vehicles ensuring optimization of revenue.
5. Follow compliance and company processes relating to driver hours regulations, RTA, and incident/accident reporting including relevant follow-up.
6. Ensure both driver brief and debriefs are carried out without exception.
7. Use agreed quoting tools to ensure new work is rated correctly.
8. Maintain excellent working relationships with drivers, keeping a consistent and accurate flow of communication.
9. Progress client deliveries, adjusting plans where necessary due to changing situations.
10. Monitor driver performance and ensure effective management of available resources.
11. Escalate issues to line management in good time and suggest solutions to issues/problems.
12. Ensure driver compliance is in line with current legislation.
13. Continually develop local relationships with existing customers including generating backload opportunities from external contacts/clearing house.
14. Check & approve drivers' wage and expenses claims ensuring they are accurate and pre-authorized.
15. Act in accordance with health and safety, quality, and environment policies.
16. Ensure that all company assets are legal, compliant, and operate safely.
17. Ensure all trailers are serviced and MOT in line with the DVSA and Company guidelines.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working in a fast-paced transport environment, ideally planning flatbed vehicles throughout the UK.
2. Previous driver management experience.
3. Excellent UK geographical knowledge.
4. Ability to plan and amend delivery schedules.
5. Customer focused.
6. Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
7. Current transport legislation knowledge.
