We are looking for an experienced clinician to join the team at the Bridge Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and Paediatric Centre of Excellence located in Bristol.
The Bridge SARC looks after children and young people of all ages who have experienced sexual abuse in the geographical regions of Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire as well as adults complainants of rape and sexual assault in the area covered by the Avon & Somerset constabulary.
We are looking for a speciality doctor to join this service in providing clinical care to young people, children and adults who have been sexually abused as well as taking on the new role as the service improvement lead within the service.
They will be supported and encouraged by the divisional manager, SARC manager and work closely and be supervised by the Clinical lead for the paediatric service (consultant paediatrician) and the Clinical Director for the adult service (Forensic physician). Bespoke upskilling and additional training will be provided relevant to the candidates needs with relation to sexual health screening, forensic sampling and other safeguarding and holistic aspects of care.
As this post includes dedicated time to support this service improvement the post holder needs significant prior experience of either service improvement in a health setting or SARC services.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based in the Bridge Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), Central health centre, Tower Hill, Bristol.
The post holder will undergo a period of in depth training tailored to their needs and will be well supervised throughout this to provide acute examination of children and adults who may have been subject to or who report sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault. Examinations will be supported by a crisis worker.
The medical examinations will be undertaken at The Bridge SARC Centre of Excellence, Bristol however, there may be times when the post-holder is required to attend other sites to perform medical examinations, for example, local hospitals in the wider area (Gloucestershire/Wiltshire/Avon and Somerset).
The post-holder will provide on-call services out of hours as part of an on call rota during which they will attend acute medical examinations as required and will also be expected to offer advice, triage and support the forensic nurse examiners with complex cases.
Whilst providing services, the post-holder will also provide telephone support and advice to professionals from partner agencies including police, social care and other health care professionals. This will include participating in strategy meetings/discussions, making referrals and attending multi agency discussions where appropriate.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Knowledge of and compliance with child and vulnerable adult safeguarding procedures
* Minimum 4 years post graduate experience in a relevant specialism (such as Gynaecology, Genito-Urinary and/or Reproductive & Sexual Health, General Practice, Accident & Emergency, Paediatrics, Neonates)
* Experience in the management of people who have experienced maltreatment including child abuse, domestic abuse, honour based violence
* Prior experience in the management of children, adults or young people who have been sexually assaulted
Desirable
* Previous involvement with Strategy discussions/ meetings, Multi-agency discussions
* Previous Court attendances as a professional witness
* Experience in the following areas: Gynaecology, Genito-Urinary medicine, Reproductive & Sexual Health/contraceptive provision, clinical Forensic Medicine, paediatrics, A& E, psychiatry
