Job summary Staff Nurse Workington Community Hospital. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly and enthusiastic nursing team at Ellerbeck ward, Workington Community Hospital. The ward currently supports 16 patients with various health conditions to be able to reach their baseline and optimum level and return back to their chosen environment whether this be back home or to alternative care facilities. The complexities of their care and the main focus being on complex discharge planning, multi-disciplinary working and also supporting patients with the decision-making processes. Whilst your base will be Workington there will be the vast opportunity to work across the community hospital network and experience the excitement of another 5 areas. You will meet a whole host of staff with varying experiences, and be part of the biggest MDT to our 103 patients in 6 areas. We are looking for Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our cheerful, supportive team to deliver high quality, holistic care and join our well-established multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about delivering holistic care to the patients and a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in discharge processes and supporting patients through education and lifestyle choices. Main duties of the job The post requires a candidate that is passionate about holistic care to enable them to support patients and their families for End-of-Life Care and safe discharges. The role will also involve clinical skills that include, male and female catheterisation, venepuncture, cannulation, administration of IV medication, ECGs, wound care etc. Candidates must be able to demonstrate and give examples of their experience within their supporting information relating to the essential criteria outlined on the job description. Training will be given to the successful candidate if required. The hours to be offered are on rotation /these will be 12-hour shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights and are subject to change for service need.
