About the Role We are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor (QS) to be part of a dynamic team delivering and overseeing commercial activities on a multi-disciplinary projects team. The role will report to the Project Commercial Lead and work closely with senior members of the account team as well as stakeholders across the wider Client business. This role is based in Reigate Surrey; however, meetings may occur at other sites which you may be required to attend. Our organisation supports flexible working, including working from home. Key Responsibilities Work within the Macro Project Consultancy team, providing cost management support to minor capital works projects for our client to ensure a seamless delivery of projects. Ensure that budgets and resources are optimised and that accurate referrals are made to internal colleagues or external contractors so that all enquires are resolved and closed within appropriate timescales. Be responsible for preparing and collating tender documentation (Activity Schedules, Risk Registers, etc prepared by Project Leads), ensuring that they are in the correct format to suit the appropriate form of tender and procurement route. Collate and issue all tendering documentation, manage all tender enquiries in accordance with procedures, and clarify any post submission of tender commercial issues with the relevant contractor. This will be done in accordance with current practice and vary depending on the form of contract utilised. Prepare Tender Award Reports incorporating both commercial and quality assessments, making relevant recommendations in conjunction with the project lead for the award of the most advantageous tender. Following successful award, prepare for authorisation interim and final valuations in accordance with the contract and procedures. Utilise cost management techniques appropriate to the service to be delivered and keep abreast of and advise on market developments that would provide cost benefit opportunities. Work within Macro’s Project Consultancy team to optimise and ensure quality, standards and value are delivered. Ensure appropriate systems and procedures are in place and are used to effectively manage and control the delivery of standards, inform budgets, forecast programming, and planning. Provide input to the review of technical KPIs and performance management of suppliers, when requested. Conduct feasibility studies, advise on procurement strategies and contract selection, write and undertake procurement reports. Apply the value management techniques at the outset of a project. Manage, estimate, and cost plan activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan. Undertake contract administration and valuation duties on all projects. Ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed. Be a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages. Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract. Identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients. Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes. Work with other Macro clients as required to provide the same services. About you This is an exciting opportunity that will provide a broad experience in projects, reaching across the Client's various directorates. The successful candidate will: Have an understanding of the NEC4 contract. Provide technical advice and recommendations within defined policy and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and industry standards. Maintain, develop and review systems, processes, procedures, and working methods to maximise service delivery, quality, efficiency and compliance, or make recommendations. Assess or conduct analysis, presenting results and putting forward recommendations on managing more complex situations to support decision making. Qualifications Educated to a relevant degree or equivalent, and ideally a member of or working towards membership of CIOB or RICS, with few years of working experience. DBS clearance is required.
