About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
As part of the NI&IST Delivery Team, the consultant will provide support to the Senior Commissioning Manager during the preparation phase in the development of commissioning scope including, commissioning procedures, instructions, temporary requirements, tools, equipment, and consumables. The scope will also include the management and execution of early commissioning scope at site, as required. Key responsibilities will be:
1. Coaching suppliers in the production of commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities.
2. Contribute to design reviews to ensure installation and layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning.
3. Detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests.
4. Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities, including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems.
5. Provide safety leadership in the execution of tests, ensuring that company process and best practice is followed for industrial safety.
6. Analyse commissioning results and guide the production of reports summarising the outcome of commissioning.
7. Ensure that the commissioning activities from conception, execution and reporting, demonstrate compliance with the functional and performance requirements for the equipment.
Here's What You'll Need:
8. Technical background in lifting and handling equipment.
9. Knowledge of legislation for lifting equipment (e.g. LOLER).
10. Hands-on experience on lifting and handling equipment.
11. Conformity assessment for lifting equipment and working with Third Parties.
12. Experience in the design, commissioning, maintenance & operations of fuel route & nuclear safety-classified cranes.
13. Experience leading technical teams.
14. Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
15. Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
