Role Overview
As a Project Accountant you will be responsible for monitoring and managing the financial performance of our projects. You will work alongside our operations teams to understand and challenge project spend; manage and control the financial risk and produce robust estimates of the value and timing of project costs and cashflow.
What will you be doing?
1. Act as the first point of contact for finance on all project topics and issues.
2. Work alongside the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager to prepare the CVR, monitor bonding requirements, manage the project cash flow and risk register.
3. Responsible for raising customer invoices and expediting approvals of project supplier invoices for payment.
4. Prepare month end accounting adjustments for work performed and materials received on site.
5. Reconcile central revenue and margin calculations for the month end management accounts.
6. Analyse monthly project results and provide commentary to project and finance teams.
7. Support the project team with monthly project reporting to management including analysis of income statement, balance sheet and cashflow against forecasts.
What are we looking for?
1. Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) ideally with experience in a similar role in industry.
2. Understanding of project accounting including revenue recognition, budgeting and cost control.
3. Ability to analyse financial data and address issues such as cost overruns, project delays, or budget discrepancies.
4. Excellent communication skills and collaboration with other departments to ensure the smooth financial running of the projects.
5. Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to manage multiple projects and meet required deadlines.
6. Proactive attitude towards problem-solving and taking ownership of tasks including identifying and providing solutions for potential risks or inefficiencies in financial processes.
