Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Therapy Team on Snowdrop Ward. The unit has a large multi - disciplinary team who undertake in patient assessments of individuals with organic mental health issues. Main duties of the job You will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team - providing specialist assessment and treatments to people with organic mental health problems. Using a person-centred approach, you will: Provide leadership within occupational therapy, deputising for senior staff when required. Be responsible for development and monitoring of treatment programmes. Review and evaluate the treatment programmes, within the remit of the post and maintaining safety discussing any areas of concern with the senior staff. Undertake specific home assessments as required and when appropriate to need. Responsible for delegated caseload-liaising across services and disciplines, signposting to allied agencies as patient need dictates. Effective communication - verbal, nonverbal and written, ensuring liaison with others involved in the patients treatment and written within the patients record and cascading of information to staff. Be responsible for maintaining competency to practice and professional registration, complying with RCOT code of ethics and professional conduct. Adhere to the code of practice for Registered staff (DCHS). Contribute to the effective day to day running of the service, planning and organizing workload for self and non-registered staff. Provide professional supervision, appraisals and training for non-registered staff and students as appropriate. Be expected to contribute to the wider Occupational Therapy workforce within OPMH and across DCHS.
