Are you a proactive, non-judgemental Health Care Support Worker with an interest in contraception and sexual health? If so, Unity Sexual Health would like to hear from you. We are looking for a part-time Senior Health Care Support Worker.
The post will require working the following shift patterns:
* Monday - 0800-1800
* Thursday - 0800-1800
* Friday - 0830-1400
* Saturday - 1 Saturday in 4 - 0900-1300
The post will be mainly based at our main Bristol site at the Central Health Clinic; however, there will also be a requirement to work at various community clinics in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Glos. While the above working hours are essential currently, there may be flexibility in the future. As the service develops, we may also request you to change your working pattern and location.
This is a permanent contract. The vacancy is within sexual health services until 31.03.2025, and thereafter the post holder may be based in a different specialty. Further details can be discussed by contacting us for more details or discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
Unity Sexual Health is a busy, dynamic clinical environment providing sexual health and contraception services.
* You will be a Health Care Support Worker with previous experience in any setting. You do not need to have previous sexual health experience but must demonstrate a genuine interest in the area.
* You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting a variety of health professionals.
* You will be comfortable working with a very diverse patient group.
* You will put our patients at the heart of what you do, be able to work under pressure, have excellent organisational skills, and be an effective and flexible team member.
* You will be able to work flexibly according to the needs of the service.
A Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high-quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.
You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values.

Qualifications and training
* One of the following: Level 3 (SCQF - 6) - City and Guilds 3; NVQ3; BTEC National Diploma; experience equivalent to the above qualifications
* Level 2 functional skills in English and Maths or equivalent
* Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps the apprenticeship standard for senior healthcare support worker) or equivalent experience
Knowledge and experience
* Experience of providing care in a health care or social setting
* Able to work as a dynamic member of a team
* Experience of time-management and prioritising work
* Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients and relatives
* Understanding of sexual health or able to demonstrate genuine interest in the area
Skills and abilities
* Effective and appropriate communication skills, both verbal and written
* Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
* Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
* Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
* IT skills, basic word, email, keyboard skills
* Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given timeframes
* Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across clinic locations depending on clinical need
* Enthusiasm and commitment to working in the healthcare setting
* Able to meet the physical and developmental demands of the role
* Caring, empathetic, and non-judgemental attitude
* Experience in venepuncture
