To strengthen our team in Buckingham, we are looking for a:
R&D Technologist Grains, Seeds & Sourdough
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Targeted Start Date: 30 June 2025
Location: Buckingham (UK) with travel to Liverpool up to the middle of September 2025
What you’ll be doing:
* Playing a key role at the Liverpool and then Buckingham site, carrying out dual responsibilities for both Sourdough and Grains & Seeds.
* Playing a pivotal role in the smooth transition and successful transfer of Grains, Seeds & Sourdough between sites, including the initial setup in Buckingham.
* Producing lab samples & prototypes for customer trailing.
* Supporting the scale up of products from lab and pilot to full scale production.
* Shelf-life testing and validation of products.
* Providing support to the factory on product launches and improvement initiatives.
* Creating product formulations based on customer briefs.
* Testing products in finished good applications i.e. bread.
* Supporting other team members and functions when needed.

A great candidate will have:
Knowledge:
* Ingredient Functionality: understanding Grains, Seeds and Sourdough ingredients and interactions (e.g., flour and fermentation).
* Prototyping: Designing and making products and concepts with precision and repeatability.
* Scientific Methodology: Understanding how to discover objectively and repeatably.
Skills:
* Communication: Proactive, professional, and confident communications with our teams and customers.
* Collaboration: Be a team player who can work well cross-functionally.
* Organisational: Methodical and accurate record keeping, ensuring full traceability of process.
* Technological: Collaborative working tools, data analytics and knowledge management.
The successful candidate will:
* Have a qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or Product Development.
* Have prior experience (3 years) within food manufacturing or another relevant production environment/industry.
* Be able to travel in the UK and occasionally abroad (two days a week on average) but more frequently up to September 2025 to Liverpool.
* Be open to flexible working hours.
* Have a Basic Food Hygiene certificate or can demonstrate awareness of food safety procedures.
* Be computer literate (primary usage: Microsoft Office Suite and SAP tools).
* Hold a driver’s License.
